Zephyr was stolen by a group of pirates when she was a baby in the Ruby Sea... Although if you ask the crew, they would say she crawled on board willingly. The next morning, she impressed the captain by drinking an entire stein of ale without crying, solidifying her status as a fellow pirate. As for her namesake, her captain very creatively named her Zephyr, after Zephyr Gate in Limsa Lominsa. Once older, she followed in her captain's footsteps and named her chocobo after Tempest Gate.Growing up, Zephyr usually had one other companion around her age, Caravallain. They became close friends and developed a healthy rivalry to see who would become the best pirate captain of all the seas. Even though Carvallain was chosen to be the captain of the Kraken's Arms, Zephyr was nothing but happy for her best friend. To this day, she will still accompany him on his trips to sell "spices."As someone well-traveled, she made many friends on her journeys. She frequently goes on adventures with those she meets and has been fortunate enough to fight the toughest of creatures alongside those she cherishes. While being in the heat of a battle is where one will find her most frequently, she does not shy away from the more mundane activities in life such as crafting or fishing.Since Zephyr was a skilled fighter, most people saw her value only in combat. However, the first person to treat her as a human before a tool was Haurchefant. It didn't take long for the two to fall in love and make plans for their lives together. The two had an intimate wedding and continued protecting Ishgard from corruption. In his last moments of heroism, Haurchefant sacrificed himself to protect Zephyr. She was never the same after and vowed to never love again.On just any other ordinary day, she bumped into the Wandering Minstrel in Old Sharlayan. Something compelled her to share her tale of love and loss with him. In return, he shared beautiful verses of a reality that could have been. With a heavy heart and tears in her eyes, she returned to Haurchefant's grave to let him know that his life saved much more than just hers on that sorrowful day.
